Gujarat High Court Issues Notice To BCI Over AIBE ‘Fail ‘ Result of A LL.M Holder

The Gujarat High Court issued a notice to the Bar Council of India (BCI) in a petition filed by Urvi Acharya, an LL.M. holder, challenging her ‘fail’ result in the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) held on December 22, 2024.

Seven questions were withdrawn from the exam, but no grace marks were allotted despite her attempting all 100 questions.

She is a first-class LL.M. in Criminal Law, and claimed the evaluation standards lacked transparency and were arbitrary. After her rechecking request and fee were accepted, the system didn’t allow explanatory remarks, and she received a standard reply confirming her result remained unchanged.

The court issued notice to BCI and listed the matter for further hearing on July 8, 2025.
