Gujarat High Court Responds to Bar President’s Outburst in Court

On January 17, a heated exchange occurred in the Gujarat High Court between Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal and High Court Advocates' Association President Brijesh J. Trivedi during a PIL hearing on illegal constructions. 

Bar President Brijesh J. Trivedi criticised the Chief Justice for being distracted and not letting lawyers finish arguments.

The Chief Justice urged to maintain court decorum, but Trivedi left, accusing her of being an "overspeaking judge."

The Court rebuked his actions, calling them disrespectful. Senior lawyers gathered before the bench and urged mutual respect between Bar and Bench, advising grievances to be aired outside court hours.

The PIL case resumes on January 24, with no further adjournments anticipated.
