Hansika Motwani Moves Bombay High Court to Quash 498A FIR Filed by Sister-in-Law

  • Case Name: Hansika Motwani & Anr. v. State of Maharashtra

Actress Hansika Motwani and her mother have approached the Bombay High Court to quash an FIR filed against them under Section 498A of the IPC by Hansika's sister-in-law, Muskan James.

James, who married Hansika's brother, Prashant Motwani, in December 2020 and separated in 2022, lodged the FIR in December 2024, alleging cruelty, assault, and intimidation.

Hansika claims the case is malicious and was filed after she demanded repayment of a ₹27 lakh loan for the wedding she had loaned to them. The petition states the FIR was filed to take revenge because of James’s ongoing marriage-related dispute.

The matter is scheduled for further hearing on July 3.
