Bombay High Court: Hiring a Maid Not Grounds to Deny Mother Child Custody

The Bombay High Court ruled that a mother appointing a maid to help care for her child is not a valid reason to deny her custody.

Justice RM Joshi dismissed a father's plea challenging a Family Court order that granted interim custody to the mother, stating there's no evidence the child's welfare was at risk. The Court also noted the mother was mentally fit, based on expert medical reports.

The court upheld a ₹5,000 cost imposed on the father for making inappropriate remarks in court filings.

Justice Joshi said the Family Court was “lenient” and found no grounds to interfere with the order.
