An IIM-Calcutta student, Parmanand Toppaunwar from Karnataka, was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping a woman from another institution inside the boys’ hostel.
The woman said she was invited for a counselling session but was taken to the hostel, where she claims her drink was spiked and she was raped. She later escaped and filed a complaint.
An FIR has been registered under Sections 64 and 123 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police have detained four others for questioning, collected forensic evidence, and are reviewing CCTV footage as part of the investigation.
