IndiGo Sues Mahindra Over ‘6E’ Trademark Disputes

IndiGo has filed a trademark case against Mahindra for using ‘6e’ in its electric SUV branding “BE 6e,” claiming infringement of its heading aviation trademark. Mahindra argues that the branding is distinct and applies to motor vehicles under a separate trademark class 12. 

IndiGo claims potential harm to its goodwill and consumer confusion, while Mahindra asserts distinct branding and no overlap with aviation. 

The dispute arose when the registrar of trademarks on November 25 accepted Mahindra Electric’s request to register the ‘BE 6e’ mark in Class 12. The next date of hearing on Dec 9, 2024.
