Indore Court Convicts Mother, Lover For Illegal Religious Conversion of Minor Jain Boy

A district court in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore convicted two Muslim men and the mother of a minor Jain boy for illegal religious conversion and sentenced them to 10 years (rigorous imprisonment) and a Rs.5,000 fine.

Ilyas Qureshi married Prarthana and later converted her son forcibly and changed his name in school records. Also, Qureshi and Mohammad Ali forged the Aadhar card and birth certificate of the minor boy.

The accused were convicted under Section 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 5 of the Madhya Pradesh Religious Freedom Ordinance, 2020.
