Special Hearing Fixed on Habeas Plea After Inter-Faith Couple Goes Missing: Allahabad High Court

The Allahabad High Court will hold a special hearing on Saturday, October 18, in a habeas corpus plea concerning interfaith couple Shane Ali and Rashmi, who went missing after appearing before the court on October 15.

A Bench of Justices Salil Kumar Rai and Divesh Chandra Samant directed state authorities to produce the couple by noon, calling the matter “very urgent.” The couple had earlier sought protection from threats by Rashmi’s family.

The petitioners alleged police inaction and claimed that an FIR by Rashmi’s father was false and intended to harass them. The court instructed the registry to make arrangements despite the non-working day.
