IRCTC to pay compensation to man for Poor Lounge facilities at New Delhi Station

  • Case Name: Tarun Chaurasia v. IRCTC and Another
  • Advocate(s): Aashima Kalsra (c) & Vipan Kumar (IRCTC)

The complainant paid ₹224 for the Executive Lounge on January 10, 2024, but found dirty restrooms, broken facilities & missing amenities like newspapers, TV and operational train information displays.

The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC), ruled that the complainant suffered mental stress due to IRCTC's poor maintenance and ordered IRCTC to pay ₹22,500 for poor lounge facilities at NDLS.

Also, ruled that IRCTC and the contractor must fix the lounge within 30 days and submit proof with photos and reviews.

The DCDRC emphasized that the lounge should provide better facilities, reflecting India’s image to all travellers.
