Is It Legal to Hoist the Indian Flag at Night?

Yes, it is now legal for the public to hoist the Indian National Flag day and night.

The Flag Code of India, 2002, was amended on July 20, 2022, particularly amending clause (xi) of paragraph 2.2 of Part II, replacing it with the following clause: “Where the Flag is displayed in the open or displayed on the house of a member of public, it may be flown day and night;

The amendment allows the flag to fly “day and night.” Previously, the flag could be hoisted only between sunrise and sunset.
