The Union government on Thursday warned that passengers playing music loudly on aircraft without earphones may face penalties if such conduct qualifies as unruly under aviation rules.
In the Lok Sabha, MoS for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol stated that the DGCA has issued Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) covering unlawful or disruptive behaviour under Rules 22, 23, and 29 of the Aircraft Rules, 1937. These include powers to restrain passengers, deny carriage, and impose penalties.
On in-flight music, airlines with entertainment systems typically play soft instrumental music during boarding and disembarkation, with other pre-loaded content during flights. Regarding videography, Rule 13 restricts photography from aircraft without DGCA permission.
No fresh penal provisions for music without earphones have been proposed.
