Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Resigns Citing Health Reasons

Jagdeep Dhankhar has resigned as the Vice President of India with immediate effect, citing health reasons and the need to follow medical advice.

In a letter to President Droupadi Murmu, Dhankhar expressed gratitude to the President, Prime Minister, and Members of Parliament for their support.

His resignation was submitted under Article 67(a) of the Constitution, cutting short a term that was to end in 2027.

The 74-year-old had served as Vice President since 2022 and was previously the Governor of West Bengal. Until further arrangements are made, the Deputy Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha will handle his parliamentary duties.
