A Bengaluru trial court has framed charges against suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna in a rape case filed by his former maid. The charges include rape, voyeurism, criminal intimidation and sharing private videos without consent, under the IPC and IT Act.
The victim alleged Revanna raped her several times since 2021 and recorded the acts to threaten her. Over 2,900 such videos were later leaked online, prompting public outrage and legal action.
He was arrested in May 2024 after returning from Germany.
The court rejected Revanna’s plea for discharge, stating there was sufficient prima facie evidence to proceed with the trial. The case is scheduled for further hearing on April 9.
