The Jammu & Kashmir High Court has stayed the deportation of four family members from Poonch, including an Indian Reserve Police constable accused of being Pakistani nationals, following the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
The petitioners asserted Indian citizenship and submitted land and service records, claiming wrongful targeting.
Justice Rahul Bharti noted a prima facie case in their favour and restrained authorities from forcing them to leave J&K till the pending hearing.
The Court also directed the Deputy Commissioner of Poonch to file an affidavit on their landholdings. The next hearing is scheduled for May 20, 2025.
