Judges should avoid social media at all, can’t comment on Judgments: SC

Two women judicial officers, Aditi Kumar Sharma and Sarita Chaudhary, were terminated by the Madhya Pradesh High Court. One of the officers had posted something on Facebook, which was used as evidence against her.

The court believes that judges should prioritize their work and avoid any actions that could compromise their impartiality. By abstaining from social media, judges can safeguard their reputations and maintain the integrity of the judiciary.   

The Supreme Court is currently hearing the case and is expected to deliver a judgment soon. The outcome of the case will have significant implications for the use of social media by judges.
