The Central Government has officially notified the appointment of Justice K Vinod Chandran, Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India.
His appointment increases the working strength of the Supreme Court to 33 judges. Justice Chandran, who was previously a Judge at the Kerala High Court in 2011, became Chief Justice of the Patna High Court in March 2023.
This appointment addresses the absence of Kerala High Court representation in the Supreme Court following Justice CT Ravikumar's retirement. The Collegium highlighted Justice Chandran's extensive legal expertise in diverse areas.
