Justice Nagarathna: Foster Sisterhood to Navigate Male-Centric Legal System

Speaking at the launch of Senior Advocate Indira Jaising’s book ‘Constitution Is My Home’, Justice Nagarathna emphasized the critical need for "sisterhood" within the legal profession. 

Observing that while male lawyers have benefited from deep professional networks and a natural ease of belonging, women entered the field without similar institutional sponsorships.

She stated that sisterhood is a vital & conscious intellectual commitment ensuring individual achievements pave the way for future generations. 

Praising Jaising’s trailblazing career, including her petition for a Supreme Court crèche, she noted that successive generations of female lawyers have systematically broken barriers from gaining courtroom entry to commanding senior leadership, effectively reshaping judicial institutions for the better.
