The case concerns allegations that Karti Chidambaram accepted a bribe from Diageo Scotland in exchange for facilitating the removal of a liquor import ban in 2005, when his father P. Chidambaram was serving as Union Finance Minister.
While the judge did not assign detailed reasons for recusal, the matter will now be listed before another Bench.
The development comes shortly after Justice Sharma was in the spotlight over recusal-related proceedings in the Delhi Excise Policy case.
