Justice Vibhu Bakhru has been appointed Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, replacing Acting Chief Justice Kameshwar Rao, who has been transferred to the Delhi High Court.
Justice Bakhru, formerly a judge of the Delhi High Court and briefly its Acting Chief Justice, was recommended for the Karnataka post by the Supreme Court collegium in May.
Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh will also join the Karnataka High Court. The transfers are part of a larger reshuffle approved by the Law Ministry. The move follows recent protests in Karnataka by advocates opposing the timing and rationale behind several judicial transfers.
