Karnataka High Court Bars Police from Filing Chargesheet Over Sanitary Pad Video Featuring Rahul Gandhi

The Karnataka High Court directed police not to file a chargesheet against comedian Ratan Ranjan and Arun Kumar over a video showing Rahul Gandhi’s image on a sanitary pad, allegedly mocking a Congress-led menstrual hygiene campaign in Bihar.

FIRs under Sections 192, 336(4), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita were filed. The accused argued the post aimed to highlight alleged illegal voter gratification, not to mock the campaign.

The Court raised concerns over taste and intent but extended its interim order barring coercive action, stressing free speech limits.

The matter is adjourned for two weeks with ongoing protection.
