The Karnataka High Court has issued notice to the Union of India on a second petition challenging the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025.
The plea, filed by K Anand and another, contends that Sections 2(1)(g) and 5 of the Act, which apply even to online skill games, are unconstitutional and violate Articles 14, 19, and 21.
The Solicitor General informed the court that the Centre has sought transfer of similar petitions to the Supreme Court. The High Court has posted the matter for further hearing on Thursday.
