Men Also Affected by Cruelty in Marital Disputes, Calls for Gender-Neutral Society :Karnataka HC

The Karnataka High Court observed that men, like women, can face cruelty in marital disputes, emphasizing the need for a gender-neutral society.

Justice Dr. Chillakur Sumalatha made this remark while dismissing a woman’s plea to transfer divorce proceedings from Chikkamagaluru to Shivamogga, citing travel inconvenience.

The Court noted the husband was already managing their two minor children and would face more hardship if the case was transferred.

Highlighting constitutional equality, the Court stated that while women are often primary victims, men too endure challenges, urging balanced consideration in such cases.

The plea was rejected.
