Karnataka HC Quashes Case Against Man for Abusing Police, Said Vague Allegations Don't Make a Crime

The Karnataka High Court quashed criminal proceedings against Anumandala Rajesh Reddy, who was accused of abusing and obstructing police officers during an attempted arrest.

Justice Mohammad Nawaz held that the complaint lacked specific details, such as the exact abusive words or use of criminal force, and thus failed to meet the legal requirements under Sections 353 and 504 of the IPC.

The Court observed that vague allegations and mere use of abusive language do not constitute intentional insult or obstruction of duty.

The FIR was filed after Reddy allegedly abused police while being apprehended in connection with a separate case.
