The Karnataka High Court has quashed criminal proceedings against OYO founder Ritesh Agarwal, ruling that the dispute was civil in nature.
The case stemmed from a complaint alleging non-payment of dues and breach of agreement by one of the partners, Rajesh Padachori.
The Court observed that mere allegations of monetary disputes cannot amount to criminal charges without proof of fraudulent intent.
The Court emphasised that criminal law should not be misused for settling contractual disagreements, directing that such issues be pursued through civil remedies.
