Karnataka High Court Rejects Prajwal Revanna’s Plea To Suspend Rape-Case Sentence

The Karnataka High Court dismissed former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna’s petition seeking suspension of his life sentence in a 2021 rape case, pending appeal.

The Special Court for MPs/MLAs had sentenced him to life imprisonment and imposed fines of ₹11.50 lakh, with ₹11.25 lakh payable to the victim.

Revanna challenged the verdict, citing alleged contradictions in the survivor’s testimony and inconsistencies in the prosecution's evidence.

The case involves sexual abuse of a 48-year-old domestic help at his farmhouse and Bengaluru residence, with the acts allegedly recorded on his mobile phone.
