The Karnataka High Court has sought a response from Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) on a petition alleging an illegal hike in admission fees for the 2025-26 academic year.
Justice R Devdas issued notice to KSLU’s Vice-Chancellor and Registrar after a final-year LLB student from Bengaluru’s BMS Law College challenged a July circular increasing fees by up to 204% for SC/ST students.
The plea argued that KSLU has no statutory power to revise fees and accused it of commercialising education.
The matter, alongside similar petitions, will be heard on August 29.
