The Karnataka High Court has upheld the compulsory retirement of civil judge KM Gangadhar, who was found guilty of threatening a police inspector during an investigation involving his sister.
A Division Bench of Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice CM Joshi dismissed Gangadhar’s appeal against the 2012 disciplinary order, holding that the punishment was neither illegal nor disproportionate.
The Court noted that the interference was unwarranted since the enquiry had proved the charges.
The complaint was filed by Dr. B Indumathi, who alleged the judge intimidated police to shield his sister. The Bench held the disciplinary action valid and legally sustainable.
