Karnataka HC Urges State to Approve Amended Rules for Issuing Summon by Email in Commercial Courts

The Karnataka High Court directed the state government to update it by 25 February on the status of approving amended rules for serving notices/summons via email in Commercial Courts at Bangalore.

Justice R. Devdas emphasised the urgency, noting similar amendments in Delhi and Bombay.

Advocate Anirudh Suresh informed the court that the High Court had recommended the amendment on 15 March 2024, but the government has yet to act.

The plea seeks a notification enabling email service or directing Bengaluru's Commercial Court to frame rules for electronic service.

The Additional Government Advocate must provide a written update on the recommendation's status.
