The Karnataka High Court has directed police to conduct proper investigations into missing persons cases and asked the state government to provide a comprehensive action plan.
The court observed, “Nothing is happening in the missing persons case; we don't know, close the case. This is a serious issue, children missing no action, missing person issue is a big matter.”
It further directed the government to furnish five-year statistics (2020–2025), category-wise, men, women, children, of missing persons complaints received, actions taken, and persons traced.
The court emphasized the need for systematic tracking, timely reporting, and family support mechanisms. The matter is now listed next week.
