Karnataka High Court Upholds Dismissal of Employee, Awards ₹4 Lakh Compensation

The Karnataka High Court upheld the dismissal of an employee who lodged a false assault complaint against his senior manager, ruling it amounted to misconduct.

Justice Ananth Ramanath Hegde noted that the Labour Court rightly relied on the unchallenged police 'B' report establishing that the petitioner had fabricated the complaint.

Despite certain procedural flaws in the domestic enquiry, the evidence sufficiently supported termination. Considering the petitioner’s differently-abled status and difficulty in securing employment post-dismissal.

The Court directed the management to pay ₹4,00,000 as compensation. The judgment underscores that filing false complaints against superiors is a serious misconduct warranting dismissal.
