Karnataka High Court Orders Action Against Judge for Citing Fake Supreme Court Judgments

  • Case Name: Sammaan Capital Limited And Ors. Vs Mantri Infrastructure Pvt Ltd And Ors.
  • Judge(s): Justice R. Devdas

The Karnataka High Court has ordered an investigation against a trial court judge for citing non-existent Supreme Court and Delhi High judgments in a November 2024 ruling.

The case involved Mantri Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., which, after defaulting on loans, withdrew a commercial suit without permission and refiled it as a civil suit to challenge the invocation of pledged shares.

The civil court judge dismissed the defendant's application for the return of the plaint by citing fabricated judgments.

Justice R. Devdas found this conduct disturbing and directed the court registry to present the order to Chief Justice N.V. Anjaria for appropriate action.
