The Karnataka High Court recently declined to stay a single-judge order that requires bike taxi services operated by platforms like Rapido, Ola, and Uber to halt until the State frames a regulatory policy.
The Court noted that since the State has made a conscious policy decision not to permit bike taxis, there was no basis to grant interim relief.
While recognizing the impact on thousands of drivers, the Court emphasized that intervention requires a change in policy or ongoing drafting of rules.
The Court has issued notice to the State, which will respond by June 20, and the matter will be heard next on the 24th of June 2025
