12 Kashmir University Law Students Allege Forced Removal from Exam Over Attendance Shortage

Twelve first-year students of the School of Law, University of Kashmir, have claimed they were forcibly removed from the examination hall during their second end-of-semester exam on November 13, citing attendance shortage as the reason.

According to the students, university officials and police reportedly intervened, dragging them out after they began a peaceful protest.

They argue this violates the Bar Council of India Legal Education Rules, 2008, which require at least 18 teaching weeks per semester and 30 weekly class hours before enforcing attendance penalties.

Students say they submitted repeated representations seeking extension of the semester to meet the BCI-mandated teaching schedule, but have received no response.
