The Kerala State Legal Service Authority (KELSA) has filed a Public Interest Litigation in Kerala High Court urging stronger measures against rising ragging incidents in educational institutions. The plea seeks stricter enforcement of anti-ragging laws, accountability for institutional heads and a robust monitoring mechanism.
It cites disturbing cases including a brutal incident at a nursing college and the alleged ragging related death of a veterinary student.
KELSA also highlights the ineffective implementations of Kerala Prohibition of Ragging Act 1988, and proposes State and District level monitoring committees and legal aid for the victims.
