KELSA-NALSA Conference Seeks Legal Solutions to Human-Wildlife Conflicts

The Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KELSA) and the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) jointly organised a conference focusing on resolving human-wildlife conflicts through legal and policy frameworks.

The event highlighted the urgent need to balance ecological conservation with human welfare, advocating for preventive measures, compensation mechanisms, and community awareness.

Experts emphasised that coexistence is achievable through stricter enforcement of wildlife laws, habitat management, and equitable solutions for affected communities.

The conference aims to formulate actionable recommendations for policymakers and the judiciary to mitigate conflicts. The launch of dedicated websites for every DLSA in Kerala was also a highlight of the event.
