Kerala Court Acquits 14 CPI(M) Workers in 2010 New Mahe Double Murder Case

A Thalassery court (in Kannur District, Kerala) on October 8, 2025, acquitted 14 CPI(M) workers accused of murdering BJP/RSS activists Vijith and Sinoj in the 2010 New Mahe double murder case.

They faced charges under multiple IPC provisions, including murder and conspiracy, and the Explosive Substances Act.

The Court found major contradictions in the prime witness’s testimony, discrepancies between oral and forensic evidence, and deficiencies in the investigation.

Concluding that the prosecution failed to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, the Court acquitted all accused under Section 235(1) CrPC.
