The Judicial First Class Magistrate Court II, Palakkad, issued bailable warrants against Baba Ramdev, Patanjali Ayurved MD Acharya Balkrishna, and Divya Pharmacy for publishing misleading advertisements.
The complaint, based on a Drug Inspector's report, alleged violations of Sections 3, 3(b), and 3(d) of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954, prohibiting ads claiming false cures for diseases.
Similar cases are pending in Kozhikode. The Supreme Court had previously scrutinized Patanjali for ads disparaging allopathy and issued contempt notices, later closing them after public apologies.
The matter is next listed for February 1, 2025.
