The Kerala High Court has acquitted ex-forest minister Dr A. Neelalohithadasan Nadar in a 2001 sexual harassment case. The minister was accused of outraging the modesty of a female forest officer while serving his term in 1999.
While a trial and appellate court found him guilty, the High Court set aside the conviction on observing that the decision was based on flawed evidence and a lack of proper application of legal principles.
It was also observed that the victim's justification as to why the case was filed after a delay of more than two years, was vague and thus, benefit of doubt ought to be extended towards the petitioner.
