Kerala High Court Allows Retired Govt Employee to Enroll as Advocate Despite Evening LLB Classes

The Kerala High Court has permitted a retired government employee to enrol with the Bar Council of Kerala after completing his LLB through evening classes.

The petitioner argued that the enrollment portal lacked an option for “evening classes” and also objected to the higher fee charged from retired persons.

The Court noted that the petitioner was later directed to apply under the “part-time” category, ensuring no bar on his enrollment.

It clarified that attending evening classes does not affect the validity of a law degree for registration as an advocate.
