The Kerala High Court facilitated the admission of a young man facing charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act into an ITI course.
A Division Bench of Justice A. Muhamed Mustaque and Justice Harisankar V. Menon observed that the applicant had missed the admission deadline and could not pay the ₹91,000 course fee due to drug addiction and mental health challenges.
The Court directed the Kerala State Legal Services Authority to meet the fee from costs recovered in another matter and extended the admission deadline.
An amicus curiae was appointed to monitor his progress bi-monthly during ongoing NDPS bail proceedings.
