The Kerala High Court has constituted a Lakshadweep Judicial Administration and Infrastructure Committee to address long-standing challenges in the Union Territory’s judicial system.
A Division Bench of Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar and Justice Ziyad Rahman AA directed that the panel include the High Court Registrar General, Principal District Judge, District Collector, police officials, a nominee of the Administrator, Superintendent Engineer, Registrar Computerisation, and a representative of the NIC.
The suo motu case arose from concerns over inadequate judicial infrastructure across Lakshadweep’s scattered islands, with court services currently available on only three out of ten inhabited islands.
