Kerala High Court Grants Bail to 25-Year-Old Who Attacked Mother for Money

  • Case Name: Sammil v State of Kerala

The Kerala High Court raised concerns about the psychological condition of the younger generation while granting bail to a 25-year-old accused of beating his mother for not giving him money on New Year’s Eve.

Justice P.V. Kunhikrishnan pointed out the responsibilities of parents and the community in shaping youth life, saying that shifting the blame to them does not help at all.

The bail was granted after the mother produced an affidavit stating that she was not against his release.

Along with granting bail, the court imposed strict conditions, allowing police to seek cancellation of bail if the petitioner commits another offense.
