Kerala HC Lifts Ban on Pappanji Burning, Mandates Safety Measures

The Kerala High Court has lifted the ban on the traditional Pappanji burning at Veli Ground on New Year's Eve. This event, which involves burning a large effigy to symbolize the old year, is an important cultural tradition in Kerala.

The court mandated strict safety measures, including a 70-foot safety barricade around the effigy to ensure public safety. This decision follows a petition from Gala De Fort Kochi challenging a police notice prohibiting the event amid safety concerns.
