Kerala High Court Issues Notice on Plea to Hand Over ₹1,000 Crore Gold Scam Probe to CBI

The Kerala High Court has issued notice on a plea filed by Niyama Sahaya Samithi, a society representing 242 victims, seeking the transfer of the investigation in the alleged ₹1,000 crore Al-Muqtadir Gold and Diamonds scam to the CBI.

Justice P.V. Kunhikrishnan directed the respondents to obtain instructions.

The petition asserts state police inaction despite 81 FIRs lodged under various statutes including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, IPC, Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes Act, 2019, and Kerala Depositors’ Act, 2013.

Victims allege the fraudulent scheme used religious endorsements and failed to return investments. The plea also seeks CBI and Interpol assistance to trace overseas assets and prosecute absconding CEO Mohammad Manzoor Abdul Salam.
