Kerala High Court Issues Notice to Election Commission on Plea Against Setting up Polling Booth at Mosque

The Kerala High Court has issued notice to the State Election Commission (SEC) following a petition by the political outfit Twenty 20 and ward member P.D. Sreesha.

They challenged the plan to set up a polling booth at Madrasathul Islamiya Mosque in Kummanodu ward for upcoming local body elections.

The petition claims this violates clause 9 of the SEC’s circular, which directs polling stations to avoid religious sites to maintain neutrality and prevent perceived religious influence.

Noting that objections raised earlier were not recorded, Justice C.S. Dias has adjourned the matter and will hear it again on September 15.
