Kerala HC Orders State to Grant Transgender Reservations in Education and Jobs within 6 Months

The Kerala High Court directed the State Government to provide reservations for transgender persons in education and public employment within six months, referring to the Supreme Court's National Legal Services Authority ruling.

The Court noted that inaction violated constitutional rights and denied equal opportunities to transgender persons due to societal and structural disadvantages.

Despite the 2019 Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act and Kerala’s 2020 rules, no provisions or orders for reservations existed, causing continued exclusion.

The Court ordered the State to act promptly to address these inequalities and ensure transgender inclusion in education and public employment.
