Kerala High Court Refers Stray Dog Attack Policy Matters to Supreme Court, Retains Victim Compensation Appeals

The Kerala High Court has directed the Registrar General to forward all cases concerning stray dog attacks and related policy concerns to the Supreme Court.

However, it clarified that it will continue to hear cases concerning compensation in stray dog attacks since they deal with appeals against committees functioning in Kerala.

The order comes shortly after the Supreme Court directed authorities in Delhi-NCR to relocate stray dogs to shelters without re-releasing them, a move that sparked nationwide backlash.
