The Kerala High Court has ruled that no club has the right to conduct a boat race in the Pamba River under any statute.
The Court further stated that the schedule shall be decided by the competent authorities, including the District Collector.
The ruling came in an appeal filed by two boat clubs challenging a Single Judge’s interim order that modified the Collector’s schedule for races during Onam.
The Court dismissed the claim of independent rights by clubs, stressing that only administrative authorities can regulate such events.
