The Kerala HC stated that harmful politricks in student politics must be curbed, allowing police to enter campuses without the principal’s consent during law-and-order situations.
The case stemmed from a violent clash in January between the Student Federation of India (SFI) and Kerala Students Union (KSU) members at Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam, where an SFI student was stabbed, leading to the college’s temporary closure.
HC stated that banning politics was not a solution and instead stressed the importance of addressing incidents of violence and vandalism on campuses.
The Court directed the government pleader to submit a detailed statement within three weeks and scheduled the next hearing for January 23, 2024.
