The Kerala High Court granted parole to a convict to attend his daughter’s enrolment ceremony as a lawyer.
The petitioner, lodged in Tavanur Central Prison, had sought five days’ leave from October 10 to 14 after the prison authorities rejected his request on September 17.
The Court, noting the emotional significance of the occasion, observed that even if the petitioner was a convict, a father remains a hero in his child’s eyes.
Justice PV Kunhikrishnan held that the Court could not ignore the daughter’s wish to be enrolled in her father’s presence and allowed temporary release for the specific purpose of attending the ceremony.
